About York Drop & Add

Independent student project — not run, owned, or endorsed by York University.

The problem

The drop/add period is short, and the seat you actually want is often held by someone else who wants out of it just as badly as you want in. There's no official way to find that person — you're left refreshing the enrolment system and hoping a spot opens up. York Drop & Add exists to close that gap: a place where students post what they're dropping or what they need, get grouped by course, and find each other directly.

What it is — and isn't

It's a bulletin board and a messenger, nothing more. You post a listing, get matched by course with people posting the opposite side, and message them to work out the details. It never touches your real enrollment, never executes a swap on your behalf, and never talks to York's systems at all — every actual schedule change happens where it always has, in your own Student Center.

Who's behind it

Built by a York student who got tired of the drop/add scramble having no good tool for it. It's a small, independent project — not a company, not a York University service, not affiliated with York in any official capacity.

How we think about your data

Browsing is open to everyone. Signing in with a YorkU email is only required to post a listing or message someone, and other students only ever see your display name — never your email. The full breakdown is in the Privacy Notice.
